5 The full loaded Netherlands HTV “Blue Marlin” departed from Port of Nantong safely to Rotterdam

Loaded with two pontoons, on which 29 inland transport barges are stacked, the world largest semi-submersible Heavy Transport Vessel Blue Marlin owned by Dockwise departed from Langshan anchorage of Nantong Port at 9:00 am on 23 January 2012. Guided by the river and sea pilots, Blue Marlin was heading to the open sea through the Northern Channel of Yangtze Fairway at the estuary. Another Dutch company VEKA, the owner of those barges is waiting for the arrival of its cargo at Rotterdam 45/50 days after departure.

6 Celebration of 40 years diplomatic relations

This year, 2012, it will be 40 years ago that the People’s Republic of China and the Netherlands established diplomatic relations at ambassadorial level. This calls for a celebration!

7 Twentsche Fibre Optics Ltd held Fibre Expansion Project Opening Ceremony in Nanjing

On 18th Jan 2012, Twentsche Fibre Optics Ltd. (TFO) held Fibre Expansion Project Opening Ceremony in Nanjing Pukou Hi-Tech Development Zone. TFO is a WOFE of the Dutch TKH Group founded in 1998 with a total investment of $ 127.8 million. It is an integrated high-tech manufacturer of optical fibre and optical fibre cable.

8 Business hours over the Spring Festival period

Over the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) period, the Dutch Embassy and the Consulates-General in China will be closed on Monday 23, Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 January 2012. The Consulates-General in Shanghai will reopen for business on Thursday 26 January.

9 Dutch representation also on Weibo

Since December 30 the Chinese can follow the happenings of the Dutch representation through Sina Weibo. This is the popular Chinese variant of Twitter with 120 million users.
